Nick Wallenda just became the first man to cross the Grand Canyon…on a wire.
Wallenda’s feat was aired on the Discovery Channel, as he balanced 1,500 feet above the Little Colorado River on a 2-inch thick wire. The pole he carried was used for balance, as winds blew through the Canyon, moving the wire unpredictably.
“It was way more windy and it took every bit of me to stay focused the entire time,” Wallenda said.
A seventh-generation high-wire artist, Wallenda is part of the famous “Flying Wallendas” circus family who have practiced the art for 200 years.
