VIDEO: Truck Driver Jailed For GPS Error

Published:

Last year, Doug Madison, a truck driver and decorated Army veteran, spent several days in the Greene County Prison in Pennsylvania. He was hauling chemicals to a Halliburton plant near Carmichael when his GPS instructed him to exit Interstate 79.  The navigation directed him onto country roads that have a 10-ton limit.

Madison received a substantial ticket for his error, one he couldn’t afford to pay.  He was placed under arrest and taken to jail, where he remained for 5 days.  Wtaetv heard about Madison’s ordeal and tried to help.

Just days before Christmas, the TV station aired Madison’s situation and told the viewers that Madison would remain in jail over Christmas if he could not pay the $6,000 fine!

The judge saw the station’s segment on Madison and lowered his fine so he could make it home for Christmas.
