1 Killed, 1 Injured in Explosion at California Trucking Company

According to the Corona Press Enterprise, a 50-year-old person has died and another is in the hospital following an explosion at National Distribution Services.

The explosion occurred at approximately 1:53 p.m. yesterday at the National Distribution Services, located at 340 N. Grant St.

A spokesperson with the Corona Fire Department told the Press Enterprise that the two employees were “grinding something on or around” the tanker when the explosion occurred.

The force of the explosion blasted a hole through the roof of the building the truck was parked in.

Approximately 3 employees were in the building at the time of the explosion.  One wittiness told the Press Enterprise that one victim was blown approximately 20 feet into the air, and another victim suffered burns to the hands and face.

A 50-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, died at the scene.  Another victim was transported to the hospital.  His name and condition are not known at this time, NBC4 reported.

OSHA is investigating the incident.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the incident.
