4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Near 405 Freeway In L.A.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 struck the Greater Los Angeles area around 6:25 a.m. this morning at a depth of 5.3 miles.

The center of the quake was near the 405 Freeway at the Mulholland Drive intersection.

This shake was followed by a 2.7 magnitude quake at 7:23 a.m. at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews have been in “earthquake emergency mode” – surveying the city by air and on the ground.

At this time, there does not appear to be significant damage, and there were no injuries reported due to the earthquake. Water mains and power appear to be intact and fully functioning.
