MoDOT has announced that I-44 in downtown St. Louis will close in both directions, from Broadway to Poplar Street Bridge this weekend.
The closure will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The interstate will reopen on Monday, July 14 at 5:00 a.m.
Crews will be working to place grinders over the interstate for the Park Over the Highway Project.
In addition, “the Eads Bridge will also be closed from 8 p.m. July 11 to 5 a.m. July 14 to ensure that interstate traffic moves smoothly,” MoDOT said in a press release.
Detour routes will be clearly marked, MoDOT says.
Eastbound I-44 will be detoured over closed portions of northbound Memorial to 3rd Street.
“Interstate traffic will get back on eastbound I-44 after the Martin Luther King Bridge. Westbound I-44 traffic will detour down Broadway. Traffic heading for southbound I-55 will use Spruce to get to the interstate. Traffic heading for eastbound I-64 will take Gratiot to the 6th Street ramp,” MoDOT advised.
