The American Truck Dealers (ATD) announced the 2014 ATD Commercial Truck of the Year at the ATD Convention and Expo in New Orleans.
This year, International swept the competition, taking home top awards in both the heavy-duty and medium-duty classes.
International ProStar with Cummins ISX15 took received the top honor in the heavy-duty class and the TerraStar won the medium-duty award.
“We are humbled to receive this award,” said David G. Mannella, vice president and general manager of ITA Sales and Service, Harahan, La., who accepted the medium-duty award.
“Well, I spent a long time writing my speech last night,” Summit Holdings Partner Richard Sweebe said. “I didn’t know I would be doing this. Thank you.”
The ProStar beat out the Kenworth T880 and the Peterbilt 579 in the heavy-duty category. The TerraStar beat out the Hino 195h-DC, the Kenworth 6 K370 Cabover and Peterbilt 220.
The winners were selected by a panel of journalists, and judging was based on innovation, design, safety and driver satisfaction.
