California Driver Arrested For Second-Degree Manslaughter For Fatal I-5 Crash

A California truck driver was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter on Wednesday for the death of an Oregon motorist.

The wreck occurred on November 4, 2013 on Interstate 5 in Oregon.

According to the a press release from the Oregon State Police, Gurpinder Singh, 27, slammed into the back of a 1991 Acura Integra driven by Dustin Paul Campbell, 26.

Singh’s truck went over the top of Campbell’s car and then struck another truck.

“Preliminary investigation indicates as traffic was slowing, a 1991 Acura Integra driven by DUSTIN PAUL CAMPBELL, age 26, from Lyons, was southbound in the far right hand lane when it was struck from behind by a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer driven by GURPINDER SINGH, age 27, from Red Bluff, California. The commercial truck rode over the top of the Acura and then rear-ended a semi-trailer that was traveling in front of the Acura,” the Oregon State Press release states.

Campbell’s car was wedged under Singh’s trailer. It took authorities a good deal of time to get to Campbell.

Singh was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No charges were filed at the time of the accident.

After a three-month investigation, authorities arrested Singh and charged him with Manslaughter in the Second Degree.
