Driver Fatally Injured After Pinned Between Two Trucks

Published:

A truck driver from Garland, Tx., was fatally injured Monday in an incident involving another truck at Allan Distribution in South Middleton Township, Pa.

According to police, Roger D. Fortune, 56, was in the loading dock opening the rear doors of his trailer, when another truck struck him from behind.

The driver of the truck, 23-year-old Mohamud A. Shil of Sioux City, Ia., did not fully apply the air parking brake, causing the truck to roll forward, pinning Carlsile between the two trucks, police said.

Carlsile was treated for injuries at Penn State Hershey Medical Center but died three hours after the incident.

The Occupational Safety and Healthy Administration and state police are currently investigating what happened, officials said.

“Obviously it was a tragic event,”  Dennis Trautman, Allen Distribution executive vice president told Penn Live. “It is still an open investigation.”

Trautman said it’s the first death to occur on facility property in 26 years.
