Driver Injured in Fiery Explosion

Published:

On Friday afternoon, a truck driver was injured in a fiery explosion after the truck he was driving crashed into a train on Highway 2227 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, according to officials.

Investigators said the truck’s diesel fuel ignited upon impact, causing the truck to explode into flames and spread debris several hundred feet in front of Warner Fertilizer, near Lexington.

A plume of black smoke emanating from the crash site caused a nearby waterpark to briefly evacuate.

The burned truck driver, whose name has not been released, was rushed to UK Hospital in Lexington.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
