A 28-year-old delivery driver has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for running over a co-worker.
Kristofer Paul Talancon pleaded guilty to running over co-worker, Joseph Marcadia, when the two were delivering furniture in Smithfield Canyon near Logan, Utah.
The Cache Valley Daily reports that Talancon and Marcadia got into a dispute over getting lost after making a wrong turn.
Marcadia got out of the truck to guide Talancon as he turned around the truck. While Talancon was turning around, he ran over Marcadia.
Authorities say that Talancon then drove away, leaving his severely injured co-worker behind.
Marcadia was transported to a local hospital and later flown to another hospital.
On Tuesday, Talancon appeared in court. State Attorney Tony Baird said that Marcadia told authorities that he and Talancon had used illegal substances the day of the accident.
“Taloncon pleaded guilty to fleeing the scene of an accident involving serious injury and use of a controlled substance, both second-degree felonies. Two other charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement,” the Cache Valley Daily reported.
