Driver Tries To Change Shoes While Driving, Overturns Truck

When operating a truck on the road, it’s not the best time to change your shoes. That’s a lesson one Canadian truck driver learned the hard way after rolling his truck over on State Route 63 in New York on Friday.

Khush Singh of Quebec was driving through the Town of Covington when he drove into oncoming traffic at a curved crest in the road and forced two other vehicles off the road, according to police reports.

Investigators say that Singh then swerved back into his lane causing his truck to overturn. He reportedly was hauling around 40,000 pounds of bananas.

After arriving at the scene of the accident, deputies noticed Singh was wearing two different shoes. Investigators later determined he was distracted trying to change his shoes at the time of the crash.

Police say Singh was driving with a suspended Quebec driver’s license that had been previously suspended in New York.

He was taken into custody and is being held in lieu of $500 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
