Dump Truck Driver Takes Out Several Utility Poles

Published:

A dump truck driver got in an accident Friday in Tampa, FL.

Raul German Llanes was driving the truck west on Roosevelt Boulevard near Bay Vista Drive about 8:50 a.m. when he lost control of the truck, traveled onto the shoulder and slammed into the several light poles.

Several poles belonging to Duke Energy, Bright House and Verizon were damaged, as well as some signs owned by nearby businesses.

Llanes was taken to the hospital and released with minor injuries.

The crash shut down Roosevelt Boulevard in both directions. However, the westbound lanes of Roosevelt from the Bayside Bridge to Bay Vista Drive remain closed as utility crews repair the poles.

Llanes was cited for careless driving.
