Faulty Brakes Send Flatbed Down Set of Stairs in Boston Common

Published:

On Thursday, a truck driver who followed big GPS down the crowded streets of Beacon Hill, lost his brakes and ended up careening down a set of stars in the Boston Common.

District Fire Chief Kevin Brooks told the media the accident occurred after the truck driver got lost and ended up in the bustling Beacon Hill neighborhood.

A police officer was trying to help the driver navigate his way out of the narrow streets when his brakes lost air pressure.

Brooks says a police officer was trying to guide the truck out of  narrow Sorrow Drive and Walnut Street, when the brakes apparently lost pressure.  The truck then went down a set of stairs, into the Common.

Authorities were notified of the situation and were able to clear Beacon Street and the Common before the truck reached the area.

The driver was not injured in the crash.
