Flash Explosion at St. Louis Trucking Company Injures Six

Published:

A flash explosion at at St. Louis truck terminal left one man in critical condition and injured five others.

The explosion occurred on Friday at a Saia LTL Freight terminal near downtown St. Louis.

“St. Louis Fire Department Capt. Garon Mosby said workers were using a forklift to try and switch out a propane tank when a leak from the tank ignited, creating a flash explosion. There wasn’t a fire, and the tank itself did not explode, but the flash was enough to injure the six workers, Mosby said,” the Insurance Journal reported.

Saia said none of the injuries are life-threatening.  Four were transported to the hospital.

The victims’s names have not yet been released, and the incident is under investigation.  The injured employees were forklift operators.

“Saia LTL Freight’s number one priority is the safety of our employees,” Saia said in a press release. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those injured in the accident as well as their families.”
