Florida Highway Patrol Seeking Truck Driver Involved In Hit and Run Accident

Published:

Authorities in Manatee County, Florida are looking for a truck driver who sideswiped an elderly drivers’s car on Interstate 75.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday near the 228 mile marker.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that as the truck driver attempted to change lanes, the driver did not see a car in the center lane, causing the trailer to sideswipe the elderly driver’s car on the right side.

The impact of the trailer caused the 83-year-old male driver to lose control of his vehicle.  The car spun, then overturned in the median.

The driver and his 81-year-old passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver did not stop.

“The truck is described as pulling a white trailer with damage to the left side. Its back door is a metallic silver with four rectangles that reflect light. The tag had numbers 77599 on it, but the state is unknown. The truck has black mud flaps with the white letters “KB” on them,” the Herald Tribune reported.

Please call Trooper Monge at 751-7647 if you have any information that might help locate the hit and run driver.
