When 56-year-old Fresno, garbage truck driver Heliodoro Banuelos began his shift on October, 29th at 4:00 a.m. – he assumed that it would be just like any other day on the job.
That is, until he noticed a wallet near a set of trash bins at the Dante Club (west of Highway 99). Banuelos picked up the wallet, and discovered Larry Del Buccia’s driver’s license, credit credit cards, and $300 – cash inside.
Banuelos immediately called over the manager of the Dante Club, and turned in the missing wallet.
According to Banuelos, the club’s manager knew that Del Buccia was a member.
Banuelos later stated that he “…was lucky to find this person’s (Del Buccia’s) wallet. He was thankful. If something isn’t yours, why would you keep it?”
Del Buccia, grateful for Banuelos’s act of kindness, contacted Keith Hester – the general manager of Republic Services to let the company know what kind of employee they had. Del Buccia also offered Banuelos a reward, which he declined, and also dinner – which Banuelos graciously declined as well.
According to Keith Hester, “He’s a pretty humble guy. If he had not told us, we would not have known. We’re proud of him.”
Heliodoro Banuelos has been driving for Republic Services for 27 years.
Great work, driver!
Thank you Heliodoro Banuelos for being a good Samaritan and role model in our community. http://t.co/8ilTg6NxoN
