‘Good Samaritan’ Steals from Truck Driver

A truck driver is San Leandro, California fell prey to a scam on Tuesday morning.

According to police, around 11:45 a.m., a man flagged down a truck driver and told him that his truck was emitting smoke.

The driver pulled over on Farallon Drive to inspect his truck. While he was looking over the truck, the suspect entered the cab of the truck and stole the driver’s cell phone.

Lt. Randall Brandt warned, “Citizens always need to be suspicious of people who try to engage them in conversations for no apparent reason. Suspects are getting very creative and they are using various scams to target vulnerable victims. Citizens should not hesitate to call and report similar activity to our dispatch center.”

This story serves as a good reminder to always be cautious when you are leave your cab unattended. It may be a good practice lock your cab every time you leave it and to make sure nothing of value is unlocked easy to steal.
