Ice Cream Truck Driver Robbed At Gunpoint By Children

UPDATE: Initial reports stated that there were multiple boys involved in the robbery, it has now been confirmed that those boys were in the area – but not involved. Police are reporting that they are now down to a single suspect – and he has not yet been apprehended.

On Thursday night, a San Diego ice cream truck driver was robbed at gunpoint around 6:45PM.

The suspect appeared to be a young boy between the ages of 10 and 12-years-old, and around 100 pounds. He has been described as african-american, wearing a white t-shirt, and red athletic shorts.

The boy reportedly approached the driver, and the suspect showed the driver his handgun, demanding money from the driver.

He left as quickly as they came, reportedly skateboarding away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Officer James Johnson, “He believed it was a real weapon, and that’s what we’re going with. Now, whether it turns out to be a pellet gun or an air soft, who knows, but at this point it’s described as a very real handgun.”

The ice cream truck driver was not injured.
