According to TMZ, former Ice Road Trucker Hugh Rowland, “Polar Bear,” is allegedly suing over an injury that cost him his sex life.

Last season, Rowland was a passenger in a pickup truck, driven by one of the show’s producers. The pickup wrecked and Rowland was allegedly seriously injured.

TMZ reports that Rowland’s wife says the two can no longer be intimate.

“Rowland — known as “Polar Bear” on the show —  claims he suffered severe and permanent injuries … and says he couldn’t return to his job at his trucking company,” TMZ reported.

Rowlan’s wife claims she has suffered deprivation of love, companionship and intimacy.

Loss of intimacy suits are becoming more common.

On November 14, 2012, Charles Robinson and his wife were awarded $5.5 million for injuries Robinson suffered while working for Lubbock, Texas- based West Start Inc.

In the spring of 2007, Robinson was on top of a tarped trailer when he lost his balance and fell head-first onto the concrete.  As a result, Robinson sustained serious injuries.  He had multiple skull and facial fractures as well as brain injuries.

Robinson is no longer able to care for himself and will need ongoing medical attention for the rest of his life.

A jury determined West Star Inc. was be at fault because they did not provide the proper safety equipment.

The Robinsons were awarded $1 million for pain and impairment, $411,724 for loss of earnings, $3,716,575 for past and future medical expenses and $400,000 for loss of consortium.
