LED Headlights Now Standard on ProStar Trucks

Published:

This week, Navistar announced that Truck-Lite high-visibility LED headlamps will now come standard on International ProStar Class 8 trucks.

“LED headlamps offer significantly longer life over traditional halogen lamps while also emitting a more natural light than improves visibility for the driver,” said Steve Gilligan, vice president, product planning and information, Navistar, Inc. “LED lights have been an option on the International ProStar for several months and we are excited about making the solution standard equipment on our ProStar model.”

Navistar explained that the light emitted from LEDs mimic daylight, which reduces eye strain that is common with frequent night driving.  Reducing eye strain, says Navistar, will also reduce driver fatigue.  In addition, LED light adds improved peripheral road clarity.

“LED lights on the ProStar will also feature a custom coating on the lens to decrease the haze and dimming common with traditional headlights,” Navistar stated.

In addition to the LED headlamps, most of the ProStar’s interior lights now use LED technology.  LED lights use less power than traditional lights.  LED lights also last longer than traditional lights.
