Let the Madness Begin

They call it March Madness for a reason. The upsets. The buzzer beaters. The games after games after games. It really is madness.

Take a look at the Super Bowl. One of the biggest events in sports. It’s just one game and then it’s over. Thursday and Friday marks the opening rounds of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Both days will feature 16 games. So if you enjoy watching basketball these are two of the best days of the year. If you are in an office pool or entered or CDLLIFE.com pool for a chance to win a GoPro you’ll want to keep tabs on the scores as they come in and see how clean your bracket is after the first weekend.

Here are a couple predictions for the first two days of the tournament:

Locks:

  • No 16 seed has ever upset the 1 seed in the first round. All four 1 seeds are safe another year as I don’t see any upsets in the making there.

Upsets:

  • 13 seed New Mexico State will take down 4 seed San Diego State in the opening round.
  • 11 seed Tennessee survived an overtime thriller Wednesday night against Iowa. I expect the Volunteers to keep it rolling with an upset of 6 seed UMass.

Homer Pick:

  • They tell you to pick with your head and not with your heart when filling out your brackets. I couldn’t follow that advice when my hometown Nebraska team made the tournament for the first time since 1998
