According to the Toronto Sun, a Canadian truck driver who went missing five days ago has been found.
Benoit Marineau, 44, was found late Wednesday near Truckee, California.
Maineau’s wife, Viau, said that her husband went missing on Friday after a horrific highway encounter.
Viau told the Toronto Sun that her husband had picked up a hitchhiker and that the hitchhiker allegedly “turned on” Maineau and began making threats.
Maineau pulled onto the side of the road and fled his truck. He ran into the woods near the California-Nevada border and got lost.
Police later found Marineau’s abandoned truck on the side of the highway. The truck’s engine was still running.
Viau flew from Quebec to the U.S. to help search for her husband.
The Missing Truck Driver Alert networks in the U.S. and Canada helped spread the word about Marineau’s disappearance.
