Ms. Manners: Parking and Trash

Published:

Parking, or a lack there of, is a huge problem in our industry.

We must take some responsibility for this ourselves.  We have lost so many parking areas, side lots, personal properties that many good people have allowed big rigs to park in without fees or direct permission for years. We have even lost many Wal-Mart parking lots as well.

This is all due to the lack of respect many drivers bestowed on these safe havens by throwing their trash and all other things disposed of in these parking areas.

This disregard for other people’s property, I feel, is the solo reason we continue to lose overnight parking.

Let’s keep our trash in our trucks until we see a trash can or dumpster. Whether parking in a truck stop or on the side of the road; there are dumpsters and trash cans set up everywhere for us. Let’s PLEASE use them and keep the parking we have.

Our reputation is on the line.

THERE SHOULD BE NO REMNANTS THAT WE WERE EVER THERE AFTER WE LEAVE OUR PARKING SPOT, EXCEPT OUR TIRE TRACKS.

Trucking is not just a profession it’s a way of life.
