Nebraska Now Offering Trip And Fuel Permits Online

Published:

The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles has announced the drivers can now apply for issuance of trip and fuel permits online.

LB 250 was passed during the 2013 Legislative Session and directed the Department of Motor Vehicles to create an online trip permit process before January 2015.

Before the online system was available, drivers who entered the state were forced to stop at proration stations upon entering the state to apply and pay for the permits.

“The Department of Motor Vehicles is pleased to be able to provide another online service to the commercial carriers who travel through Nebraska,” said Rhonda Lahm, Director of the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. “We recognize the important role the trucking industry plays in our state’s economy, and this new service is designed to save them time.”

The new online service is available for use by the public and will replace the paper permit process administered by the Nebraska State Patrol, however, drivers may still apply for and use paper permits until March 31, 2014.
