New York I-390 Shut Down After Suspected Gunshot Shatters Truck Window

Published:

An extensive police search took place today on I-390 in Gates, New York after a truck driver reported that a gunshot had blown out the window of his truck.

The driver had been traveling Southbound under an overpass, when he heard a loud pop and noticed a hole in his rear window. Fortunately, he was unharmed.

Both directions of the highway were closed-down immediately after the driver of the truck called 911 to report that his rear window was blown out. The closing took place between the I-490 and Chili Avenue Interchange this morning around 10:30 a.m.

State Troopers, Sheriff’s Deputies, officers from two departments, and FBI agents teamed up and fanned out across the area in search of shell casings. As it stands, the police were unable to find evidence that a bullet had shattered the vehicle’s window.

Although the search was swift, it was thorough – this isn’t the first incident of its kind. Reports were made earlier this week of a bullet striking a vehicle on Route 390.

North and Southbound lanes were reopened before rush hour.
