The Truckload Carrier’s Association Best Fleets to Drive For annual contest is now underway.
The annual contest spotlights carriers that have been nominated by drivers. The companies that were nominated are then evaluated on a “broad range of criteria” such as driver compensation, benefits, driver support, the company’s commitment to a favorable work-life balance, safety, annual turnover rate and more.
This year marks the 7th anniversary of the contest.
Between September 2 and October 31, 2014, you can nominate your company for the contest.
According to Deborah Sparks, TCA’s vice president of development, after a company is nominated and agrees to participate, the survey will dig deeper into its policies and practices, bringing to light the things it does that are innovative and/or successful.
“Best Fleets is good for everybody – the carriers, the staff, the drivers – and it’s even good for the image of trucking – to show off the best of what our industry can offer,” she said.
The contest is open to all for-hire trucking companies in the U.S. and Canada with 10 or more trucks. Carriers DO NOT have to be TCA members to qualify for the contest.
Nominated companies will have to complete a questionnaire about their practices and procedures. In addition, a phone interview will be conducted with senior management and a “random sampling of drivers.”
After nominations are completed, the carriers are broken down into to groups: small and large carriers.
From there, two overall winners are selected.
The winning companies are announced in January 2015.
