Photoset: Images of I-10 Crash

Published:

CDLLifer Jason Tilley sent us these photos of the bus-truck accident that occurred early this morning on Interstate 10 near Blythe, California.

Original Story:

According to NBC Los Angeles, four people were killed and several others have been injured in a bus crash.

The crash occurred approximately 2:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 near the California and Arizona border, just east of Blythe.

The El Paso-Los Angeles Limousine Express bus was traveling from El Paso to Los Angeles.

At this time, it is unclear what caused the crash. Early reports suggest that the truck jackknifed and spilled a load of steel pipes, Caltrans said. It is believed that the bus driver might have swerved to avoid the pipes.

“The pipes subsequently caused some of the vehicles to crash into them in the eastbound lanes and it appears they could have rolled into westbound traffic which is where the bus was traveling,” Terri Kasinga of Caltrans told the KCBS-TV.

CNN reports that the bus hit the pipes, lost control and ended up on its side approximately 50 off the shoulder of the road.

Interstate 10 will remain closed for several hours.

This is a developing story.
