In Vermont, “inspectors checked 3,217 commercial vehicles and inspected 223 of those vehicles during the operation,” the Insurance Journal reported.
The inspection resulted in 57 commercial vehicles taken off the road and being placed out of service as well as 14 commercial motor vehicle drivers, the state reports.
Enforcement officers and police issued almost $18,000 in fines in their check for safety elements, evaluating drivers’ fitness for duty and verifying compliance in transporting hazardous martial.
The highest number of violations were for drivers violating hours of service regulations and vehicle brake violations.
