Russian Truck Driver Saves Owl, Acquires Loyal Pet

Published:

A 51-year-old Russian truck driver, Yevgeny Zolotukhin, has been dubbed, ‘Harry Potter’ after taking in an injured owl that he found on the side of the road.

According to the driver, he was on his way to Chita when he noticed the owl in the middle of the road and came to a screeching halt.

He noticed that the owl’s wing was injured, and knew that he wouldn’t be able to immediately find a home for the bird of prey.

In the next town, the driver purchased some raw chicken and fed it to the owl in his cab.

The driver originally intended to try to find the owl (which he named Sonya) a home at a local zoo. But, when he left her there, Sonya refused to eat.

Zolotukhin took her back, and though her wing appeared to get better, she still refused to fly away from the cab.

According to Zolotukhin, Sonya makes for an excellent companion, and always stays right beside him.
