Sochi Builds ‘World’s Most Expensive Road’

A number of brand new, overwhelming infrastructure and installations are currently in place to host the Sochi 2014 Olympics. From sports arenas and mountain courses, to hotels and a railway system that’s been deemed the “World’s Most Expensive Road.’

It’s a twenty-five mile mountain stretch of highway connecting the seaside arenas to the mountains that cost an estimated $9.4 billion to build – if you break it down, it’s about $200 million per kilometer. – The highway alone is more expensive than the entire budget of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Many say that ‘rampant corruption’ and a monopoly of ‘Russian Railways’ (the state rail company are to blame for the outrageously high cost of the road’s construction.
