A suspected rest stop killer has been caught after an intensive search spanning across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
Terrance Doddy, 36, of Rockford is accused of murdering Todd Hansmeier, 37, of Rockford on Monday June 30th. According to officials, he was apprehended after leading police on a high-speed chase across the Illinois-Wisconsion border.
The chase, which started when police noticed him in a stolen vehicle, exceeded 100 mph and but came to a halt when Doddy lost control and smashed into a tree on Highway 81 in Beloit, Wisconsin, police said.
He will soon face charges in Rock County, Wisconsin, before he can be extradited to Winnebago County on a count of murder.
Doddy is also suspected of murdering Tonya Bergman, 44, of Monticell, Illinois and stealing her car from the I-39 rest stop west of Chicago, although no warrants have been issued at this time.
