Truck Catches on Fire at Alabama Truck Stop

A truck that was hauling a load a pumpkins caught on fire at the Pilot truck stop in Birmingham, Alabama today.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:47 a.m. as the truck was fueling.

By the time authorities arrived, the truck was fully engulfed in flames, and the fuel island awning was on fire.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 9:12 a.m., Al.com reported.

The fire caused extensive damage to the truck and the fuel island canopy.  The other fuel pumps did not catch on fire.

Crews are working to clean up the area.

The truck stop is located on Bankhead Highway, at US78/I20. 

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
