Truck Catches on Fire After Collision With Cows

Cow

A truck struck two cows on U.S. Highway 97. The collision occurred on early Saturday morning near  Wapato, Washington.

According to the Yakima Herald, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the truck driver, Wesley R. Smith, was driving north on the highway when he struck two cows.  His truck then crashed 200 feet up a barrier, causing the fuel take to rupture, setting the truck on fire.

Smith managed to climb out of the passenger door.  He suffered minor injuries.  Smith was taken to a local hospital and was later released.

The truck was totaled.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway were shut down for several hours.
