Truck Collides With Train Transporting Department of Defense Materials

Published:

According to the Indy Star, earlier this morning, a truck collided with a train hauling Department of Defense materials in Indianapolis.

The collision occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. at North Rural Street and Massachusetts Avenue.

Police were called to the scene after a truck became stuck on the tracks and an oncoming train struck the truck, causing the load of pineapple to spill all over the road.

The Indy Star reports that Indiana State Police said the truck was turning east from Rural Street onto Massachusetts Avenue. Shortly after the truck became stuck on the tracks, an eastbound train arrived and struck the passenger side of the truck.

“Registration numbers on the train cars indicate they are affiliated with the Department of Defense. A person wearing an FBI shirt was on the scene, but FBI spokeswoman Wendy Osborne said the agency is not involved in the crash,” the Indy Star reported.

No injuries have been reported. Crews are working to clean up the mess.
