A truck driver is in critical condition after being shot in the face during a botched robbery attempt.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Jerry’s Foods in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
According to KAAL TV, that earlier that evening, 28-year-old Kelly Anderson had been drinking at a bar. Â He left the bar and crashed his car. Â He then walked to Jerry’s Foods and happened upon a Grounded Air truck. Â Anderson allegedly told police he had intended to steal the truck to drive it home, however, a 58-year-old truck driver was sleeping inside the truck. Â Anderson allegedly attacked the unidentified driver and shot him in the face.
The truck driver was found Saturday morning, lying beside his truck in a pool of blood. Â He was conscious enough to tell police that he was asleep when Anderson entered his cab and demand his truck, then shot him.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital. Â Doctors said the bullet was lodged in the victim’s brain.
Anderson fled the scene on foot. Â A Minnesota state trooper found him walking on Highway 169 shortly thereafter.
Anderson was arrested. Â He is being held on a $1 million bail.
