Truck Driver Survives Canal Crash, Thanks to Air Pocket

A truck driver is lucky to be alive after crashing his truck into a Florida canal.

According to CBSMiami, the occurred on SW 8 Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The cab of the truck was almost fully submerged in the water. Thankfully, the truck driver found an air pocket, where he was able to breathe while he waited to be rescued.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue drivers donned scuba gear and helped the driver get out of his truck and guided him to safety. The truck driver later told authorities that he remained in the cab of his submerged truck because he didn’t know how to swim.

The truck driver was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

There is no information on the cause of the crash.
