Truck Drivers Pull Gary, Indiana Officer From Burning Squad Car

Over 7,600 trucks recalled fort defects that could spark a fire

According to WBIW, truck drivers in northern Indiana rescued a Gary, Indiana police officer from his burning squad car following a crash on a highway overpass.

The incident occurred Thursday night on an overpass over Interstate 80-94 Borman Expressway.

Authorities told The Times of Munster that 26-year-old Gary officer Michael Mitchell crashed his squad car after being cut off by a motorist.  Mitchell’s car struck a curb and ignited into flames.

Passing truck drivers saw the squad car on fire and pulled the young officer from the blazing vehicle. Mitchell was taken to the hospital. He sustained injuries to one of his legs.
