The Trucking Solutions Group will host a health walk, blood drive and bone marrow registry at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas.
The annual Health Awareness Walk is on Saturday, August 23 at 9:00 a.m. Trucking Solutions Group Chairman Rick Ash says the walk is to “encourage drivers to practice more healthy habits while on the road.”
All are welcome to participate in the 1.5 mile walk, and registration for the walk is not necessary.
Trucking Solutions Group will also be hosting its annual blood drive at booth #5057.
Those who wish to donate blood can do so all three days of the truck show. No appointments are necessary. Blood donations will go to the Dallas chapter of the American Red Cross.
This year, the Make It Happen USA bone marrow registry will join the Trucking Solutions Group.
The goal is to “increase the number of people on the bone marrow donor registry.”
Ash told CDLLife that joining the bone marrow donor registry is painless and free! Those who wish to join the bone marrow donor registry will only need to fill out a form and have their mouth swabbed.
Only 2% of the US population is on the registry.
If you are Hispanic you have a 10% chance of finding a donor.
If you are African American you have a 7% chance of finding a donor.
If you are Asian American you have a 3% chance of finding a donor.
If you are Native American you have less than a 1% chance of finding a donor.
