Acosta was knocked unconscious. Fortunately for him – a few brave heroes witnessed the accident.

Robin Rosario had been on her way to work at the time of the accident. She recalled hearing the impact, and realizing that the dump truck ahead of her had been in a serious accident. Rosario could see Acosta’s leg sticking out of the truck – immediately, she knew what she had to do. The driver had been pinned inside, and Rosario immediately set to work pulling him out of his burning truck.’

Fortunately for both the Acosta and Rosario, Ernie Tolson also witnessed the combustion – as he was passing the accident, he noticed a woman trying to drag the driver away from the flames. Tolson sprang into action, assisting Rosario in removing the driver from danger. – According to Ernie, the entire cab burst into flames only 20 seconds after the driver was removed from his truck.

The driver is currently being treated for non life-threatening injuries at the Naples Community Hospital.

Great work and quick thinking, Rosario and Tolson!
