According to KSL and Desert News, authorities in Utah are trying to determine whether a crash between a truck and a car in Uintah County, Utah was a suicide.
The crash occurred on Monday at approximately 1:00 p.m. on U.S. 40.
Witnesses say that car driver Monte S. Mitchell, 36, appeared to have turned his car directly into the path of an oncoming truck as the truck was slowing to turn onto 4625 East.
Mitchell’s car became lodged under the truck’s wheels. He died at the scene.
The truck driver and his passenger were not injured.
“We may never know,” the UHP Lt. Jeff Chugg told KSL, “but we’re looking into several things that we’re aware of, some phone calls that have been made, some other information that we’re exploring, to verify whether it was or wasn’t intentional.”
KSL reported that Mitchell had recently “become the subject of a police investigation.”
