According to WCCO and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the truck driver who was captured on video passing a school bus on the shoulder of the road and nearly hitting a 7th-grade girl has turned himself in to authorities.
Yesterday, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety released video of the incident and asked the publics’ help in identifying the truck involved.
Video of the incident went viral and many drivers were sharing the video on Facebook, calling for the driver to turn him or herself over to authorities. “Drivers like this give other drivers a bad name,” one driver said.
Yesterday evening, the driver in the video turned himself in.
The incident occurred last Friday on Highway 23 near New London and Paynesville.
On the video, you see the school bus stop to pick up a 7th grade girl. Seconds later, a truck flies by the school bus on the road’s shoulder. The bus driver said he had turned on the flashing lights and that the stop arm was extended.
