The True Truck Driving Hero
Breathe, Jeff, breathe. I am so flipping pissed right now that my eyes are full of tears and I can hardly see to type. I am going to try to keep this short because what I have to say is better not put down in writing. In addition, I am very sure that once you see this video, link found below, your words to the right people would do more justice to the situation than anything that I might say here.
This Truck Driver is a “TRUE TRUCK DRIVING HERO.” Did he win that title from me because he jumped into a burning car and saved a family as many truckers have done in the past, no. That kind of hero will have all sorts of people writing stories and giving him rewards. No, this driver is more my kind of hero. Sitting there in the dark of night knowing that he is in an unsafe condition to drive and his reward for doing the right thing in keeping America’s families safe out on the highway is having his job threatened, having his family threatened. Nothing, in my opining, short of old time mob tactics.
Safe and legal truckers are out here by the thousands but we will not be here for long if those that would harm us are left alone to do their dirty deeds. Each day we continue our fight to run safe and legal without reprisal only to be pushed aside and ignored from the very top of government all the way down to the renegade driver and all those in between. We put both our physical and financial well being on the line every day suffering threats to our jobs and to our life each and every time we stand up.
When pray tell is someone going to finally notice that we do exist? When pray tell will we finally get the backing to help safe and legal drivers like Abe stay behind the wheel of a truck instead of being fast tracked out of the industry.
Driver, whoever you are, in the world of me, you are a hero.
