I-70 Eastbound near Aurora Colorado’s Colfax Avenue reopened Friday around 5:47 p.m. after a wedged pickup was dislodged from its resting place. The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. when the pickup driver, speeding through a construction zone, found himself in a sticky situation.
Realizing that traffic was narrowing to one lane, the driver hit the brakes, crashing into a concrete barrier, and spinning into a wedged position between the guardrail and highway shoulder.
Traffic was backed up for nearly an hour and a half.
Fortunately, the driver was not injured. He was issued a traffic violation summons, and received a double fine for his construction zone traffic violation.
We can’t help but to point out that this scenario is a little reminiscent of a certain unforgettable scene – involving a luggage cart…
