Authorities in Alaska say it may take up to a week before the Richardson Highway in Alaska reopens.
Over the weekend, an avalanche dropped 30 feet of snow and ice onto State Route 4, the highway that connects Valdez to Fairbanks.
Crews are working to remove the tons of snow and ice from the roadway, and barges are being used to deliver food to the locked-in residents.
