Washington Drunk Driver Collides With Fire Truck

A fire and rescue truck suffered some exterior damage after being involved in a head-on accident with a suspected drunk driver. The collision happened around 7:00 PM last night near Bremerton, Washington near Highway 303.

According to authorities, the driver of the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am involved was headed eastbound and crossed the center lane. Although the driver of the fire truck took action, making evasive maneuvers and swerving out of the way into a ditch, the driver of the Pontiac still managed to crash into the truck’s driver side – totaling the car.

At the time of the accident, the fire truck was headed back to the station. The truck’s lights and sirens were not in use.

The 48-year-old man driving the Pontiac is currently in serious condition, and being treated at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. Emergency responders had to extricate him from the totaled vehicle.

No firefighters were injured in the accident.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver of the Pontiac was intoxicated, and charges are pending.
