According to the State Journal, two carriers have filed suit against the city of Morgantown, West Virginia and the West Virginia Divisions of Highways (DOH) in an attempt to stop an ordinance that is to go into effect on December 1, 2014, that would prohibit trucks in the downtown Morgantown area.
The carriers involved in the suit are Nuzum Trucking and Preston Contractors. Â The two say the ban is “unenforceable,” the State Journal reported.
The ban would prohibit trucks over 26,000 pounds from entering the downtown Morgantown area.
In 2000, a group tried to enact a similar ban, however, the DOH said that the city lacked the authority to prohibit trucks from driving through the downtown area.
At this time, it is unclear whether or not the truck ban will go into effect.
