600 To Be Laid Off At 3 New Jersey Grocery Distribution Companies

Kraft Foods Putting the Brakes on its Private Fleets

Nearly 600 people who work at grocery distribution companies in New Jersey will be out of a job by July 12, 2015.

Three New Jersey grocery distribution companies filed WARN letters with the state’s Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The companies, Blair Road Haulage, LLC., Middlesex Avenue Haulage, LLC., Port Carteret Drive Logistics, LLC., were previously owned by Associated Wholesalers Inc.  Associated Wholesalers Inc. filed for bankruptcy in 2014.

C&S Wholesale Grocers acquired Associated Wholesalers Inc. during the bankruptcy proceedings, The Shelby Report states.

Below is a breakdown of the number of employees, from each company,  who will be affected by the layoffs.

At this time, it is unknown how many drivers will be affected by the layoffs, though The Shelby Report states that 435 of the employees are Teamsters members.
