Amtrak Train Partially Derailed After Truck Stalls On Tracks

Forty train passengers are injured after an Amtrak train collided with a truck on the tracks in Halifax, North Carolina today at 12:15 PM.

The accident occurred after the truck stalled on the tracks. The impact derailed the first two cars, the train’s engine and the baggage car. The cab of the truck remained intact, but the trailer was destroyed by the impact.

Fifteen passengers were taken to the hospital by ambulance while the other 25 injured were transported by bus. No fatalities have yet been reported and authorities report that none of the injuries were life-threatening. The cab of the truck remained intact, but the trailer was destroyed by the impact.

Authorities are still gathering information about the cause of the accident.
