A trucker was busted on Friday for using a passenger car’s E-Z Pass to avoid $13,000 worth of tolls while crossing the George Washington Bridge, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Kerron Maittia was nabbed after Port Authority officials on the lookout for toll scammers recognized his license plate from more than 100 other toll violations. Investigators discovered that Maittia performed the scam twice a day most weekdays.
Maittia faces of charges of toll evasion and theft of services.
When asked why he avoided the tolls, Maittia said that he was having financial trouble and was trying to save money.
