Busy Wisconsin Truck Stop To Shut Its Doors

Published:

A busy Wisconsin truck stop is slated to shut its doors to make way for a restaurant and a sporting goods store.

In less than two weeks, the Rib Mountain Travel Center in Wausau, Wisconsin will shut down, leaving trucks with even fewer places to park.

Since 1988, Rib Mountain has provided thousands of truckers a safe place to park and rest.  Soon the truck stop will be demolished and a Red Robin restaurant and a Dick’s Sporting Goods store will take its place.

The truck stop’s restaurant closed 5 years ago, however, truck drivers who frequently parked at the truck stop said the truck stop’s close proximity to a variety of other restaurants and shopping options made the Rib Mountain Travel Center a good place to park and rest.

The Wisconsin Trucking Association says the Rib Mountain Travel Center will be sorely missed as there are not many truck stops in the area and there are few rest areas in central Wisconsin.
